Cosmetic Damage Insurance
I have just taken out an additional insurance policy that covers accidental and malicious damage to the car.
The cover allows you to make 2 claims each year for damage such as door dents, scratches, bumper scrapes etc on your car. As it is seperate from your motor insurance you don't need to worry about losing your NCB.

Ah, you have me there.
I didn't ask when I took out the cover, I'll check my policy when it arrives.
My gut feel is no, it is more repairs that can be carried out by a Dent Master type setup.

I'd be interested in the details of what is covered - minor dints that Dentmaster etc can get out, or the deep scratches (I've seen them to the metal on another S2000...) from some -insert your description here- person.
If it does cover the deep scratches I'd be very interested I think.

Sounds almost too good to be true
However, my prime concern is with colour matching.......I have two small scrapes on my rear bumper, one my own fault when I reversed into a projecting bolt in an underground car park .........and the local bodyworks (who say they do all Honda work) said the colour would be a very good match "but may look slightly darker" trying to point out that it looked 'different' even when new
Sounds like an advance cop-out so I never went back. Quoted

I wont bore everyone with my tales of Sebring silver re-sprays yet again. However, a general point, all silvers are difficult to match panel to panel. This problem is further exacerbated by the proximal panels being metal / plastic. An additive has to be put into the paint sprayed onto plastic to make it more flexible (less brittle) for obvious reasons. This can have an immediate effect on the paint colour, or , over time it can cause the paint to age differently.
With regard to your body-shops observation that the paint match isnt good on new cars - I can confirm that on my Silverstone car, from day 1 in certain lights the plastic bumpers look a distinctly different colour. I have looked at other cars (S2000's) and noticed the same effect.
One way a really good body shop will hide this is to blend paint from panel to panel - this way it should be possible to get a better panel to panel match than new!
