By the way here in Ireland, this is the most extreme build I have come across. Never seen the car or know what happened to it (or if it was ever finished), but it is comprehensively documented.

It is possible - the front crash structure does nothing but add lots of weight and is something I'd be cutting off pronto.

Removing the roof altogether means you can get away without having windows of any kind and then you can bond some plastic over the place where the door used to be. Get rid of the ARBs as you don't need them, fit an EG/EK Civic radiator, replace front 'i-beam with truss structure and remove front crash structure, cut the boot floor out along with the rear crash/chassis structure. Sod the dash off and the heater system. Replace clocks with something like a Race Technology Dash Lite 3. Sod the F20C alternator off and replace with a denso unit from a Dhiatsu Charade, fit Jenvey ITBs as they are a lot lighter than OEM mani, ally engine pulleys, race battery, replace your brake calipers for ally ones and brake discs for ally belled items, bin the AZ6 box and throw in a Ford Type9 5 speed (Quaife/Tran-X internals mind), remove the rear bumper (It's only an air brake anyway), remove fuel tank and run a race cell, bin rear light clusters and replace with 2" LED brake lights, forged wheels, one race seat bolted to floor (No slider), cage that only extends around driver not for passenger compartment like traditional cage, bin the old loom and wire in a new thinner one (Although most off it will be gone), cut out the passenger floor and replace with bonded plastic, ally bodied dampers, remove headlights, replace electric steering rack with manual unassisted rack, boot lid for fibreglass, bin ABS, bin brake servo.

Probably missed a couple of things (Like carbon prop, but that's silly cash).

If you want it to handle, you need ARBs. I've discussed this with some proper race engineers and they all agree. They are heavy though. They also agree removing the hardtop will slow you down.

Front I beam weighs naff all. I looked at cutting it out but you would save almost nothing with what you have to replace it with.

Dash clocks is a really expensive one and woud save a couple of hundred g for £1000 and you need an ECU.

Changing to ITBs saves very little (I've weighed them) but you wouldn't do it for weight.

Carbon prop is less than 2kg

In summary (as most seem to not know I've done all this ) my weight removal is:

Doors bare
Hardtop gutted
Dash gone
Heater gone
AC gone
Arch liners gone
Softop and motors (basically there's nothing left inside the car)
Tensioner pulley gone
Behind wings Swiss cheesed
Excess wiring gone
Sound deadening gone
Air pump gone
Spark plug cover off
Alarm etc
Crash bars gone
Door bars gone
ABS gone
Brake shields gone
Washer system gone
And some other bits

My adding lightness is:

Carbon bonnet
AEM intake
Lexan all round
1.6 kg battery
All lightweight pulleys
Lighter wheels
Lighters calipers and discs
Js manifold
Decat
Ti exhaust
Lighter mirrors
Aftermarket inlet
Nitrons
Light flywheel

Some adding weight bits but aiding performance or essential for compliance:

Wing
Flat floor
ARBs
Oil cooler
Data logger
Transponder
Rain light
Cage
Extinguisher
Gauge panel

Bot more to go on mine, I'd like to do a single wiper and start getting down to nuts and bolts and a bit more drilling. Of course, on a race car there are certain things you can't do so there are limits.

The original question was can you get an S2000 to below 1000kg with everything stripped out. The answer is no, because you have to add lightweight parts on top of that. When you are down at this sort of weight, it's a pure track car and therefore a cage is essential IMO, and that adds weight.

End of!

Do the trailer licence or just keep it road legal and get it down to 1100 ish.

You have a cage though so you'd be lower without that. Not lower (tm) lower weight

But all in all you'd have an odd car. Better to start elsewhere maybe

Are trailers specified the same as LGVs? i.e. the loading includes he weight of the trailer say 200Kg, if that's the case I think its a no go, you will be better off ditching the trailer.

Yup so my trailer payload is 1300kg which includes the trailer which is 300kg so I got a max of 1000kg to play with.

Forget nitrogen in the tyres, use helium for the car and trailer, that should help.
