I use one of the blue Honda covers (one on ebay at the moment) and have found it to be excellent as long as you occasionally re waterproof it and only put it on the car when it is clean.
In the winter I tend to wash the car after a weekends use and leave it on until the next weekend.
High winds can upset it though
Out of curiosity, how do you re waterproof the official Honda cover?

I used Nikwax, tent and gear water proofer, water based, in a hand sprayer from Blacks.

It's true, you don't need a cover, but when you don't use the car often it is great to be able to uncover a clean car clear of bird s**t and tree sap.

IIRC my cover was

Sell it and buy a new one next year.

Why not just carry on using the car?

I do have a garage but it's not big and it's full of other stuff. SO, my view is, it ain't a baby, it's a car. It's waterproof. It will be ABSOLUTELY FINE outside. But that said, mine does have a hardtop (though I don't think I can be arsed putting on and off and on and.... thru winter when I want to enjoy any available top-down winter fun/sun) AND I'll chop the car in for a new one in a year or two anyway. I guess if you are keeping the car for many years, then a little more care and attention is warranted.

Come to think of it, I'm not into detailing at all anyway. I just get the car valeted every couple or three months. It hardly ever sees rain (underneath) and will only be used in winter on dry roads. I've always been of the opinion that too much cleaning will do the paint more harm than good anyway (fine scratching and wearing). And my ladyboy blue car is obviously feminine enough to be very sensitive about what I put on her skin but tough enough for him not to mind living outside

I do both. I look at it during the week when I am too busy working from home running the business to drive it.
When I do drive during the week I use the people carrier as I have to transport bulky stuff.
It is weekend car, so it gets used on weekends and sometimes I have to work on weekends so it doesn't get used on weekends.
But I do look at it every day, unfortunately sometimes it is under the cover so I can't see it
But at least when I do use it it is clean

You will get bored of putting a cold cover on and taking off especially on wet, cold windy nights, just polish it and keep using it daily.

I can assure you that the car is just as much FUN to drive dirty as it is clean
