Default Cracking in door seals (Hardtop)

I've some small cracks started on one of the door seals on my car. It's on the hard top, passenger door, top of the window. They're not affecting the seal at all. Just noticed them today - there aren't any on the drivers side.

Should I be worried? The car and hardtop are less than 3 months old, so I'm suprised at any deterioation so soon. The seals themselves seem to be the same design as the soft top, except its a single section, since there is no need to fold.

I was going to take a photo, but the lights gone.

I haven't treated the hardtop seals yet - I did the soft top before putting the hard top on.

I'm probably just being over cautious since it's only visual currently.

Ive not noticed anything on mine yet.....
It could be the cold weather that is causing it..... maybe some vaseline/grease will help it deteriorate any further.

Brian:

Brian. It's the hardtop seals you're talking about. Nothing to do with the car itself?

Cedric: Yes its the seals that the glass in the door presses against. I'll have a good look tomorrow when it's light again. I could be the cracks have always been there, but I only saw cracks on one side this morning. Didn't have time for a long look however. As I said the actual seal section is the same as the soft top.

I don't think it's weather related, since the car is too new, and I'd expect it to affect both sides if that were the case. I did have to have the wipers replaced - final verdict was some chemical had attacked the blades, which was causing them to deposit the rubber on the windscreen. (I posted about this a while back.). My worst fear is what if the same stuff got on the hard top seals...

Yeah... it'a already the 3rd hardtop for the car.

1st - came the wrong colour.
2nd - was distorted either during shipping or manufacture.
3rd - is on the car now.

Brindley told me this story when I picked up the car. Still, it was nice to know they paid attention to getting it right. (It was the first hard top they did. They've since done Nasty's.)

The heated rear window has been a real saviour over the past week.
