Cracking in door seals (Hardtop)
#21
Well the good news is they should be easy enough to replace.
Cedric, I don't believe the fit of the hardtop is to blame (my first thought) as the problem is on both sides.... when first installed the roof tends to sit more towards one side of the car and you need to get it aligned correctly.

Sorry Pete, I'm just wondering if the quality of the fit is a factor?
Too much clearance = vibration and rubbing= damage??
I'm still being ambiguous All referring to the hard top problems!

Could it be tearing... from stretching? Or the windows tearing it as they go up?

This may be a bit off the mark and I'm sure Honda will find the reason but...
if the cracks are where the top of the glass meets the seal could it be the repetitive rubbing of the glass against the rubber as the body flexes slightly over rough surfaces but the more rigid hardtop doesn't? If you follow me the softop is less rigid and so the rubbing is less likely to occur there. I've heard tell on the main board of peoples hardtop creaking as the car goes over bumps and stuff that suggests a degree of body flex to me.
Does anyone see where I am coming from?
