Default Crank pulley tool

Hi Guys,

plan on changing my timing and oil pump chain soon. Anyone have a crank pulley socket I could borrow?

Any tips on how to get it off from previous experience. The car is 2001 with 94,000miles on it, I'm sure its going to be a bitch.

I used a strong leather belt
Tightly wrap the belt around the pulley so that as you attempt to undu the bolt it tightens the belt, the buckle slipped over the drivers side strut bolt
Once the belts in position warm the bolt with a butane gun ( I used a micro torch) not red hot just too hot to touch. Then a socket and long extension bar to undu it.
I tried all other methods but this was the method that worked, I was about to give up and was surprised how easy it came off with this method

Me and my mate snapped two large breaker bars and a pole, Honda snapped their tool and i took it to a garage who used an impact wrench and heat (but be careful due to heat on the seals).

Why changes the chains though?, many other people haven't and have done much more mileage with no issues.

Ox - that's one long belt, pulley to shock strut, I like it though, will give it a try.

Irvatron - I reckon the chain guides are worn, there always noisy.

I won't be heating it at all, normal running temp max.

The strap is the best I've heard yet. It's fixed so hopefully safer and les chance if me ending up on my ass with a bar through the wing.
