Default crankshaft pulley removal

need t take the timing cover of my new engine thats now in the car so need to take the crankshaft pulley off,
ive tried using a electric impact wrench 18v and that wasnt man enough,

next option i think is to remove starter motor, jam something (screwdriver maybe) in the flywheel to stop engine turning and using a very large breaker bar and a socket and a bit of good old pop-eye force.

anyone got any other idea's of what they have done?

I borrowed the tool from my local Honda dealer parts dept, drop down to yours and take a chance on renting/borrowing.

Oxhouser on here advised me before to use a leather belt wrapped around the crank pulley and buckle over the passenger suspension mount, thats what I was going to do if I didnt get the correct tool.

Plenty of plusgas, much better than WD40. I personally wouldn't heat the bolt for fear of damaging the case seal.

I've done it and it's not fun.

Honda pulley holder tool, iampact socket and breaker bar, plus a scaffold pole. Speak to the main man Andy Vey if not!

Can be done with leather belt but you need to heat the nut before trying with pry bar
I was giving up, tried everything, with belt and heat it went easy
You need a long thick leather belt, wrap it around the pulley so unscrewing the nut tightens the belt, pull the buckle end until it just hooks on the strut bolt, put the car in gear and handbrake on. Warm the bolt until it's too hot to touch, undo the bolt

I will always remember for the rest of my life what a hassle it was removing one.

Don't do the starter motor method.

As mikey says do a search, I'd get Honda to do it for the price (though Honda snapped the tool when trying to remove mine).

If you or a mate can weld then make your own like we did...Its perfect to lock off against the floor while you swing on the nut after a touch of heat with a breaker bar

Looking at that welding I would say even someone who can't weld can make one
