Default Custom (facelift) brake ducts

Having fitted Accord Type-R callipers up front earlier in the year, I finally got around to routing cold air to them this weekend.

I didn't much fancy lashing out £150 on these..

TEGIWA FRP BUMPER SCOOPS HONDA S2000 99-03 Tegiwa Imports

and I think they're too big and invasive anyway. AND they only take a 65mm (2½") hose, which is too big to route under the air pump behind the bumper.
SO, I designed my own, to fit more discreetly in the bumper, and take a 2" duct.

I'm fortunate enough to have a 3D printer at work, so it could quickly turn them into reality...

Next up, was to get the bumper off (plenty of guides out there) and cut away the holes for the ducts. I used a Dremmel and it made short, accurate work of it

I only removed the 'louvered' style area, leaving behind a small planar lip to later bond the duct on.

Duct bonded on using black silicon, with another bead on the reverse to give a better hold.

Getting it back on the car. This does require there to be a flange welded to the back of the disc heat shield, to direct the air to the back of the disc. And also hole to be cut in the arch liner to pass the pipe through. I cut these with a 56mm hole saw. Slightly lower than I wanted on the nearside to get under the air pump, that's why the pipes are set at different heights.

Bumper back on and all back together! Pretty pleased with the result!

J'approve. I'm looking into brake ducting on mine, much like you I'm not terribly keen on paying £150 for the Tegiwa jobbies.

Very well done. Good job.

I have a similar setup but having removed the air pump, I went with 2.5" ducting. You may find that the ducting frays where it's suspended to make the clearance bend out to the spindle. You can make up a little holder using slightly larger silicone coupling to cushion the ducting to prevent fraying. I don't have a photo of my front holder but a photo of my rear brake ducts, below, shows the concept.

Somehow 18months has trickled by since I posted about these! Well they're still on the car and have really helped the front brakes on trackdays

I've finally got a around to tweaking the design, and am now able to run a very small batch. I know a number of people expressed and interest in these so give me a shout if you're still keen.

They are designed to take a 2inch (51mm) pipe, and are angled such that they route around the airpump behind the bumper on the nearside.
