Nope but given the condition of other stuff and the amount of engine movement etc etc at 73k I reckon they could do with a refresh.

It irritates me that something isn't working as well as i know it should. If i can get them for half the price they are here, it's a job worth doing.

Gearbox and clutch refitted. Starter motor cleaned and free. Clutch fork greased and silent. Gears all lovely and smooth. ALL the drive train buzz and rattle is gone.

22k mile 005 OEM shocks and springs fitted and according to my mechanic, it rides like a new car. No crashing or banging, no wallowing, just nice and sharp.

Can't wait to get it back :-)

Well, it won't cost you anything to pop over and have some passenger rides/see what it's all about.

It is some distance away, but you'll be driving past on your way home in any case, just turn right up the M11.

Car is back and two things come to mind.

1. how LIGHT is the clutch!!!
2. how quiet is the clutch!!!

Inspection of the old items reveals 4 snapped friction disc springs - i should post that back to ruddy Johnsons and label it 'characteristic'.

New suspension has stopped the wallowing and really tidied up the turn in too.

Very happy boy

That's how this feels to me - feel like i have to learn to drive again. The biggest change is the handling, whether that's tired shocks and springs or worn top mounts i'm not sure but this feels tight, composed and far less sloppy. Also less tail happy too.
