Dent fix, should I let them drill the wheel arch?
 

I have a small dink in the rear quarter, just aft of the door.

The dent chap took a look and apparently the only way to to get at it would be to drill a 1/4 inch hole under the wheel arch. This would be plugged with a "Christmas tree plug".

Could weld something onto dent for use with a slide hammer.
will damage paint though !!

As long as you drown it with rustproofing, it should be OK.

Probably best left though, as someone will only go and put another one in it!

I have a dent behind the door where I annoyingly dropped something in the garage, I looked into having the dent removed but it needed drilling which I decided against so the guy used a slide hammer and glue to pull it out, it's not 100% better, I would say it's about 60% better.

i'd drill it, soak the inside in wax oil then plug it and soak that too :D

That's almost exactly where my dent is, but it's nowhere near as bad as that.

I have one in the same place,and was told it would need to be drilled.

There is a grommet near the bottom of the inner arch near the sill, no idea if you could get access here? I noticed it from this thread:

Yep I too have a small ding on the OSR quarter panel, my local dent man says you can't get access unless you drill, told him to leave it..

Having looked at the location of the dent on my car I personally don't think that there is access to the back of the dent even if it was drilled as it's double skinned there so that was another reason for not letting him drill the car, didn't want to drill the car and end up not being able to get to the dent.

My plan is to have the car fully stripped down bar interior and engine to be resprayed over the winter anyway.

I'm certainly not experienced in body work but surely drilling/pulling in such a case is a bit OTT ? Even after pulling back the metal so that its nearer to the original surface, some filler and smoothing would still be needed. So why no just add a little more filler and don't bother with a permanent injury to a good panel ?

Perhaps even some lead-loading instead of filler, or is that not done anymore ?!
