I think he was gobsmacked when he got £1k for it, part ex! I guessed he'd get £600. Bodywork was bubbly, generally getting a little grotty!

I have in fact done the above. Traded the S for an 09 Focus for wife and kids to have, I've dropped to a Golf GT Tdi 130 PD which is returning 55mpg currently. It has Egr delete, eibach suspension, just had all disc and pads upgraded to S3 size 300mm and I've just fully serviced it. Next month a bigger inter cooler is coming, plus all the 'cooler pipe work I'm changing to reduce boost leak chances. Just bought a pancake pipe off an S3 to assist with better breathing... It's bizarre that it doesn't smoke at all, not even on acceleration. that's the Egr delete for you.
Not everyone's cup if tea, but a hard slogger of a car for the motorway. And remapped, will be circa 185hp and 320lbft pending a 'mappers health check. A no brainier for the motorway and it was a cheap car at £2.5k. One day I'll be back, Indy yellow probably... But I've some serious saving to do this year/next. Oh and was only £110 to tax for the year! |
Cheap ibiza 1.9tdi 130 5 door would be a interesting cheap choice group 6 to 7 revo remap makes it 190bhp 300tq , 60 plus mpg :suspect:

Cupra TDI are 160, I've been looking at them compared to a VRS but I think the VRS tarted up slightly looks better :hidebc: however TDI's have better brakes, bigger intercooler, and suspension. |
I considered the Ibiza... Dreary interior are horrid styling, doesn't "sit" nice.. It kinda looks tall, and not as well proportioned. I find it too ugly to like.. It's not an attractive car, nor is a Golf mk4 but the Vw is a bit better looking IMO. The golf is more comfy, also has 6gears like the Ibiza. Mine sits on chavvy 18" reps, but in Black Magic pearl it's not a bad looking thing for a little over £2k.

I don't see the point of a dull as dishwater or POS car for everyday - that's like living in misery for 50 weeks for two weeks of packaged bliss(?) on the Costa del Chav. I agree. |
Unfortunately when you have mouths to feed, distances to commute, silly fuel prices not to mention insurance hikes. The dull is dishwater PD130 cannot be ignored as your comfy commuter to save some dough. It's a class act on the motorway, thats why there's a million of the little parasites on the motorways everyday. I'd prefer to travel in the S, but alas it's too costly for me as a 20k a year commuter :-)
