DIY camera mount for S2k

Hi guys,

I decided to make a camera mount the other day and thought I'd share the pics with you.

What you shall need is some wood, 2 by 4 cm's will do. Some liquid metal (JB weld etc), a bolt that is long enough to go through the wood and into the underside of your camera. The next thing you shall need to make sure is that your s2k has a windblocker or furthermore some holes drilled for where a wind blocker is meant to be. The rest is pretty self explanatory... heres some pics.

Windblocker removed & some tools needed

Drill 2 holes in your piece of wood that line up with the windblocker mounting points

Make sure the bolts are long enough to go through the wood and the "secret compartment" lid

This bolt needs to be the correct size for your camera, you may need to space it out with washers to enable it to fit so the camera faces the correct way

The other side of this bolt shall need to be fixed somehow. I opted to use JB weld.

Hopefully this helps someone out there for a cheap trackday camera mount. It takes a nice central shot and catches a little bit of the driver which is nice. Just be sure to upgrade your memory card for all the manic driving you shall feel like recording all of a sudden

Cameras have a UNC thread so you will need a UNC bolt.

(I bought a lot of these a while back if anyone needs some)

 that pic above puts mine to shame :p

Did you make that yourself?

I think the idea is to set the camera (or more so video) to go before you pull away. I was trying to think of method to take pictures via a temporary cable going from the camera to say the side of my seat, but gave up on the idea. If anyone has any suggestions on linking say some kind of mechanical switch upto a momentry switch and then a method of clamping this device to a camera it would be interesting to hear.

The mount I have was bought from a guy in the US :D

My Sony F828 has a remote cable that is perfect for photos/mpegs whilst on the move.

However my rear wing now gets in the way for shooting behind and my mirror gets in the way when shooting in front

I have another couple of mounts I can use. :)

I did something similar but with a mount similar to this:

which I just bolted through one of the holes, with the aid of one of Steven's bolts (thanks again!). Works really well!

Phase K - thats a nice compact unit. where did you get that from? does the camera move when you hit a bump? Im guessing that clamp holds it pretty tight.

Hi I don't suppose you have any drawings for this? Looks great to me!

Cheers Stu
