Do I need Axle Stands?

my car is up on 4 stands and all wheels removed,the main problem is finding a jack with a height of no more than 5 inches, I have made
up some wooden ramps that lift the car approx. 2 inches with a very long slow taper.

This also saves undue load on the suspension springs.

I take it you have polly or rod end bearings in all you suspension joints then
