Default Dreaded boot leak…

I know there’s many threads in regards to the boot filling with water, rear light gaskets, vent, etc. But the leak I am experiencing is strange, my soft top drains are clear as water passes through nicely and exits well. I have seen people speculate around the “rain rail” after having new soft tops fitted but again, I have no clue. This is my first s2k and I’ve had it about a week. It’s on 50k miles and I think the soft top is aftermarket I’m not sure. It has the pre patched areas on the inside so that leads me to think it’s aftermarket. It’s also not vinyl.

i have attached pictures of where it is leaking. I have also installed the hard top to see if that stops the leaking.

thanks in advance.

it seems to come from behind the plastic corrugated part (arrow) that goes around the fuel filler hose. It then trickles down the ridge into the boot bucket.

I have bought silicone to try seal plastic small trims behind the boot/roof but I don’t think that’s where it’s coming from. I will also be sealing the other common areas as precaution.

best way to find out is to use a hose and see where the water is coming from

you could be missing a rain rail, i install tops and just last year i did 4 tops for people who had missing rain rails which completely blows my mind. Message me with your number, i can send you a video of how to check if you have one installed. Could also be the seal not set right around the top of the rain rail.

Take the two small plastic strips off. Unscrew the screw, then push down with a bit of pressure and push rearwards. Odds are the sealant below the strips are perished and need refreshed.

I’ve also discovered new issues with a boot leak. I’ve previously sealed vents, fuel filler and replaced rear light gaskets. This time it looks like I need to take those trim pieces off and do what’s been discussed here. It also feels wet under the aerial. Does anyone know the part number for the seal/gasket that needs replacing?

I have sealed the screw holes for the little plastic bits so will update as I go on, I do however think that my rain rail may be faulty so who knows

I took them off and the only point where water could get in that I could see was the screw holes, so I put silicone over the holes and screwed them back in.
