Default Engine Swap

I have my engine in bits but with the price of bearings, head bolts etc. I am thinking about getting a second hand long engine. Are there any differences in any of the F20C engines over the years. I'm guessing not but just need reassurance in case I go for a newer one. Mines from a '99 (122000 miles).

Get an 04/05 - much reduced oil consumption, and no DBW that later engines have.

Does the DBW have anything to do with the engine? I thought that was just for the throttle. It's just that I've found an engine from an '08 model.

Why are people not going for the K20 en mass?

Also I would be careful of the 08 engines, there is a massive engine failure thread on here somewhere relating to the latest of the F20 engines.

The Dbw engine in addition to the inlet manifold has different pulse sensors/wheels on the crank and exhaust cam.

Ah!, thanks for that Mr. P. I decided not to go for the '08 after all, after reading Surfer's post.
