grooves make no difference to cooling. In theory they are supposed to deglaze the pads, thats assuming that the pads glaze. Decent modern ones don't glaze anyway. Some people say that grooves can improve the 'bite' of the pad, but i've not noticed any real benefit personally.

My spoon discs had small cracks all over from road use. They then seriously cracked on the track.

I've tried various combinations to this point. You put in better pads and then you reach the limit of those so go for better ones still. You then find that the discs can't cope so you go for better discs. All part of the modding fun.

The best combo to this point is DBA 4000 series discs and DS2500 pads. On the road they're great. On the track the discs technically overheat, but don't warp or crack. The next step is to try the DBA discs with chilled's pagid pads and see if they stay at a decent temperature.

But to be honest, for normal road use the oem setup is great and if you buy drilled or grooved discs they'll be for appearance only.

How much are the DBA disks? Interesting to see who's combo is cheaper, and which one lasts longer. I'll go with the cheapest effective option.

My laquer is already knackered anyway. I had brake dust burnt into them when they were about 6 months old.

My pads were

Having not followed the brake sagas on here for a while, it seems people are finally realising what I've been saying all along is true.

Drilled/grooved disks are cosmetic and nothing more on the S2000.
If you want to improve OEM brake performance, change the pads, bleed regularly and get cold air to them, everything else is window dressing.

Yes. I am feeling smug.

Order Item 2 , Part No : FCP956H_11 , Description : Ferodo DS2500 Rear - S2000 2.0 16V : 00- , Quantity : 1 , Unit Cost : 60.59 , Tax Rate : 17.5%

Order Item 1 , Part No : GD7088 , Description : EBC Front TURBOGROOVE Disc - Honda S2000 , Quantity : 2 , Unit Cost : 57.78 , Tax Rate : 17.5% ,

Order Item 2 , Part No : GD7089 , Description : EBC Rear TURBOGROOVE Disc - Honda S2000 , Quantity : 2 , Unit Cost : 57.78 , Tax Rate : 17.5% ,

Does that make me cheap?
They've lasted road miles since May, Rockingham, Donni evening session and will hopefully make it through Carlimits day and the Donni on the 13th.

But as has been pointed out, Chilled and Lower are way harder on the brakes than I am.

Agree with MarkB, but as Dembo says they look pretty

I would get the EBC. My experience would suggest they're only a problem if you're on track, and then only if you run Ferodos.

They do look pretty...

I cant help thinkg that the EBC discs with dimples rather than drilled look more like those Halfords 'Lookalike Discs' thats 'people' put on their Corsas to hide the drums when they dont have rear discs.. Maybe its just the photo..
