Engine rebuild.
Well as you all know supercharging is not cheap. But I wasn't expecting this. My tuner has informed me that my 58k engine makes a big end rumble under load and it is not suitable for supercharging until this has been addessed.
So I was left in a quandry as to what to do... but having spend a rather large sum of money to get this far there is no turning back now!
So instead of the 2 weeks for fitting and tuning, its now more like 2 months for the engine rebuild and then supercharging... At least i know the car will be bomb proof, I just wish my wallet was!
So no JAE for me and no summer fun in the S....
Can anyone recommend a fun beater? Might get a CRX to potter around in....

Is it worth knocking the insurance on the head and claiming the tax back? Every little helps?
Sorry to hear this fella. Was hoping to see another SC'd at JAE.

I'm very dissapointed about JAE but I am trying to persuade my friend to take his dads skyline over

I have just found myself in exactly the same position. Similar mileage and running boosted for a week brought the big end problem to light.
Rather than wait for a rebuild ( and after speaking to a few Engineering companys wasnt to confident on how it was going to turn out anyway) i ordered a complete short block from Honda. Took 2 days to come
Always an option.

Do you mind if i ask how much it was?
My tuner has told me that by having it rebuilt and upgraded i can 100% confident it will be perfect, while buying an engine from a scrape yard could easily have the same issues.

The engine isn't damaged, it could quite happily continue in NA form. However to introduce boost would likely result in failure sooner rather than later.
As to supercharging reducing the life of the engine it shouldn't do after the rebuild. There are guys in the US who have 100k+ on their supercharged cars so i guess it comes down to how you drive it.
