Eps light on no power steering

Eps light on after winter rebuild..
i read you need to pin 4 and 9 together on obd2 port..
However i cannot get the eps light to flash when both are pinned together..
Whole car has been apart for rust all new bushes throughout, but steering rack not been opened..
steering was fine before took car off road in october..

Is there anyway to reset instead of the obd2 method?

Mine went nuts once when I did the compliance bush but I believe it resets itself

If you start the car and don't move the steering wheel for 30 seconds it will come on and no power steering, try starting up and wiggling the steering wheel. As noodles posted try a short run.

Tried the technique in the link in message #2? I used that technique to reset mine almost exactly 4 years ago. How time flies.

Them is the connectors. Using solid wire? Stranded sometimes bunches up for me and won't go in far enough. Paperclip works fine in most cases. Pin 4 (top row) is just a ground so a single wire from any frame bolt or screw to Pin 9 will do the same thing.

Here is the procedure.

With the car off, and the wheel straight do the following

1. Using a paper clip connect PIN 9 to PIN 4 (ground) on the ODBII connector.
2. Turn the steering wheel 45 degrees to the left and hold it there
3. Turn the ignition switch on (II)
4. The EPS Light will be on for 4 seconds, when it goes out do step 5
5. Turn the steering wheel Straight, and release
6. The EPS Light will turn on in 4 seconds, when it goes out do step 7
7. Turn the steering wheel 45 degrees to the left and hold it there
8. The EPS Light will be on for 4 seconds, when it goes out do step 9
9. Turn the steering wheel Straight, and release

now the EPS light will blink twice after you release the wheel, within 4 seconds. then it will blink 5 times.

If the EPS light stays on, you will have to do this process again.

PS -- I put an extension cable on the OBD2 port years ago so I no longer have to crawl under the dash to connect stuff.

Thats a good call about the extension. Yes its a large paperclip. Thats why its so puzzling.
