Do you have some facts to back that up?

It does seem like they mean it this time.

Are you sure AE?

I thought I had read an official statement from Bridgestone themselves on this site recently... but I may be wrong!

Mucho cash.

There's some Hankook tyres that Camskill list as trackday tyres (although others say they aren't ) that are pretty cheap - only about

I had a good chat with the Bridgestone tech department who pointed out that while they didn't have as aggressive a tread pattern as the ES02 they would still be more than capable for 99% of road situations and substantially better than the ES02 in the wet (thank god!).
Thanks for that, alibee.
The only downside to that is you have to try harder to get the back out around roundabouts Otherwise, I can leave those annoying front-wheel suicides for dust in the rain now

Posted this a number of times. When I got into an email discussion with a guy at Bridgestone about my own tyre saga I asked about SO2's discontinuance, this was his response (verbatim) and his recommendation for replacement:

[QUOTE]The S02 was the OE tyre for the original 16 inch fitment.

Normally, about this time of year, too!

Generally, if a tyre dealer told me they were black with a hole in the middle, I'd be doubtful.

The Porsche fitment (or Pocher or Porch or Portia ) ought to wear quicker, since it has a 225 section tread on the 225 carcass and not a 245 tread. Which makes it great fun and very oversteery.

Just my 1p worth !!The reo50 is better, but its wider on mine so i think you guys on the 16 rims may need to put a slightly wider tyre on !!Ie 235 or 245 ,as the so2 as more rubber contact !!Just have a look you will see where i'm comming from !!

Now if you want cheap tyres get some Nexons on they were great !!Rear end action on every corner !! Think i paid

Seeing as the evidence does seem to suggest that the ES02JZ's are indeed being discontinued, has anybody got any experience of the suggest replacement 16" 225 RE050A's ?

I'm just wondering how they compare to the ES02JZ tyres, especially in light of the fact that they're only available in 225 width (which is against the recommended 245 width suggested for ES02JZ rear replacements).

Ive noticed that 245 Toyo Proxes are often used as replacements, but read a few negative things about the soft tyre wall on these, and this has been enough to put me off.

IF the ES02JZ has been discontinued - Im really trying to get a good idea of what the best replacement is.. I really dont want to compromise the grip and handling of the car and a set of tyres is too expensive to be 'experimenting' !
