Mine have been repaied before under vacuum, by an extremely specialist welder, who unfortunately lost his guy who did the Ti work. As a result that company have stopped Ti welding - since it is so specialist to do it properly.

What would it be worth to you rob? PM me an offer if you are serious. I guess you have priorities for cash elsewhere right now though
yes need a running engine first im affraid

Vacuum gets rid of the weld impurities.

I deal with welding a lot, but hadn't been involved with Ti before so started asking some of the specialists I work with.

It can be done, it's just tricky and results are a test of time.

Is it loud Pie? Though it was supposed to be Mugen levels?!

AE, where did yours fail? Mine is at the silencer can where the pipe comes out, around the circumference of the weld. One of the support brackets must have broken and caused some stress on that joint, hence it cracked.

Its weird, some days its nice and queit and other days - like yesterday, the in gear noise is enough to give you a headache.

It does catch on my drive, so im wondering if its moving the donut around??!???

I had my head under on saturday and there's a blow on the rear joint, so im going to sort that and try popping the cat back on, see how that goes.

Split down the middle box, baffles inside went first, they were removed and it was stuffed with that wool stuff. Then it split again where it had been welded.

It does if you want a decent weld. Titanium needs really low impurities, and it reacts with moisture and pretty much anything else. Unless you have a *really* clean welding area i'd not attempt it.

Edited to add - it's not as difficult welding new pieces, but welding a crack in an exhuast will be a bugger as the cleaning prep you need to do would be nearly impossible unless you completely severed it where it needs a repair. If there is carbon in there from the exhuast gas, that will probably be enough to **** up a weld.

Hence why Merc Eng did this!
