A few polite words whilst I browse

I thought I should just say a few introductory words. I might be in the market for an S2000 before the year is out, if a few things come together for me, so though I would start trying to harvest some information now, ahead of a hopefully well informed purchase.

I'm coming from 5 years 306 Rallye ownership. It's been a great and faithful stead, both on the road and track, so I'll very mixed feelings about moving on, but we'll see. I don't imagine I'll get many of you too excited but it's been an excellent journey which you're welcome to have a look should you be interested - see link below

Rallye-R

I won't get too carried away with the questions just yet, I'm sure that will only leading to a roasting and link to the search function, but if someone could indulge me just this one:

I'm aware the suspension was revised to make it a little less twitchy, around 2004(?). If the passage of time caused me to move to some coilovers or something more track focused, would it then be pointless investing too much time at the beginging trying to only source a post '04 model?

Thanks,
Chris

Welcome aboard

The 04 plus also has a less oil consuming engine, more refined interior and better looking bumpers and lights (in my opinion) so I wouldn't rule it out just yet :)

The body is much stiffer on an MY04+ which also helps. Try to find the best example you can whatever the age is really the best advice.

The bumpers and lights on the MY04+ are horrid (in my opinion ;) )

Lovely Rallye mate :)

Pre 04 Does have a lively feel to it in comparison to these dull face lifts  :p

I've never felt my 53 plate to be twitchy. It was when I first bought it as the owner used budget tyres!

Welcome along dude. Not been on here too long myself after getting a MY00 S. I have found the Honda to be twitchy but a hell of alot of fun! I come from a Williams hybrid track car so I know the step you may take well and it's going to be a great but expensive one if you go for it!

Good luck. Oh and I agree, the Williams is a better car than the 306 but I would always say that haha.

I've done both; the pre facelift is more lively. It's a matter of preference I guess. As my car is a road based I prefer the slightly softer set up (as well as the nicer interior and the reduced oil usage). It's also a bit more predictable, kind of like a Alice Morgan on Diazepam

It's a matter of preference/budget/availability and how much of your overall budget is going on the car and how much is going on mods and upgrades etc.

I used to have one of those too amongst other Rallyes, Bianca White ones are the fastest :p In fact you'd be the third member on here to have owned a white one!

Welcome :)
