Fitting new Alpine 9835R head unit...
 

Just fitted (if you can call it that) a new Alpine head unit, with the S2000 specific wiring loom, and I have has real problems getting the mammoth bundle of wires into the dash cavity.

I'm sure loads of S owners have fitted similar kit, but wondered if anyone has found a solution to this. It doesn't help that I was working in the dark last night (seriously overestimated the amount of remaining daylight!)

At the moment, it all works, but I had to remove one of the small panels to the side of the stereo slot, and hang the wiring loom out! It don't look pretty, but it's safe for now.

If anyone can suggest a quick and easy way of stowing this, I'd much appreciate it!

It may even be that a solution is obvious in daylight...

If you kneel in either foot well you can get your hand up behind the stereo and i found that the iso connectors etc fit quite well beneathe the stereo and to the passenger side and the alpine adaptor and any other wires would fit to the right hand side.

yes skin will be lost and much cursing and check that it works before putting the final face back on. :LOL:

Yeah, did try the 'shove' method (for want of a better word) but the plastic block bits (technical term) didn't fit in the cavity.

I'll have a look again when I get home to see if I can pull or push the gubbins through another hole. God, that just sounds so wrong!

IMHO a good way to knacker the KCE, the OEM loom and the Alpine loom!

Try taping the cables that run in parallel together to make one long bundle. Connect it all up with the HU over the knob (protected of coarse!). Feed the now straight bundle in packing it down behind the airbag controller (with care!) and along side the heater box. Then push the KCE box down in to the gap between these two as well. Continue gently pushing and coaxing the loom in to these gaps.

I got mine in without any shoving this way. I also have two lots of RCA's, cables to the bass shakers and the CD interchanger cable in there!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I got the head unit about 1/2 way in before I met resistance (a lot of) and decided that to force it would be to knacker it.

I will take the whole lot out and start again - at the weekend, when I have more than an hour of daylight!
