Default Fuel Gauge, Problem or is this Normal?

Right,
Not sure if this just how the fuel gauges work, or if i've got an issue somewhere
I normaly fill the car up 30quid at a time. Which is just about half a tank of v power.
The bars drop at quite a steady pace until theres about about 4-6bars left.
By this time i've covered about 100-120Miles.
But even if i drive at like a nain/grandmother the last bars seem to just rapidly dissapear
and before i know it i've only covered about an extra 20-30miles and the fuel light comes on!
Didn't have this issue in my EP3
Just wondering is this just how the gauges work or have a got an problem somewhere?
Cheers guys

No it's normal and nothing to worry about , most of us use the trip meter. Think it assumed how much your using on your driving but that is open for debate.

Use the trip meter rather than the fuel gauge and after a few fills, start an MPG thread. They're very popular.

Mine seems to be always requesting more fuel.

Just fill it up and keep smiling.

I think mine is fitted with the 'petrol station proximity gps sensor', as the further I am away from a garage, the fewer bars it shows, then as I hurry up the pace to go get some fuel, the bars magically re-appear, the closer i get..

I find mine goes up and down a lot when at the last couple of bars. Does the red bar actually go out or is that empty?

Yeah did notice it go up a on the odd occasion. That being said a few minutes later two would suddenly disappear.
Don't think the red one goes though.
