Default Gearbox and Diff oils.

Been done to death i know but is it better to stick to oem lubricants for these, just road use only
Usually gone with an opie oils recommendation in the past, have used fuchs products for years without issues on other cars.
Thanks..

Cheers, Amsoil seems to be one of the best lubricants around. Not heard much about royal purple.

Amsoil not only cures cancer but prevents it. If you listen to the high church Amsoilites. I do run it in my differential (or rear differential as Honda calls it).

At the risk of angering the Amsoil goddess, I went with Red Line 75W-110 for my differential last time round and I've not been struck by lightning yet...

What is the spec of the original diff oil, a search suggests GL5 75/90.

The car was developed with those oils

Having said that, same spec all good

But equally, some guy with a backwards baseball cap assuring you 10w60 is better ain't science

Use an SAE 90 viscosity hypoid gear
oil, API service classified GL5 or
GL6 only.
My (and your) Owner's Manual.

But the SAE spec for 90 grade hypoid gear oil changed since the manuals were written, around 2015 or 2016 after the S2000 went out of production. 110 grade seems to match the old 90. A multigrade full synthetic like 75-110 or 75-140 is fine but new-SAE 90 is probably too thin.

I'm not quite willing to publicly poke the Amsoil goddess in the eye like @BenRNBP so I currently have Amsoil full synthetic 75-110 in the differential.

Maintenance interval for the differential is 30,000 miles. 15,000 for service service.

In the UK lubricants like Amsoil, Royal Purple and Redline are a bit alien to us, little known and they are quite expensive too which is why a lot do not use them.
