Gearbox input shaft bearings
Evening guys,
Looking to replace both bearing on the input shaft sometime soon.
I'm looking to do as LITTLE strip down work to the box as possible! So, if anyone has any advice/tips/warnings for this please let me know!
On a side note, while the box is off, I'm going to replace the clutch. I'm looking for a set-up that will be good for stock, but also handle a SC later down the line? Any thoughts?
Cheers all!

Give me a shout if you do the box, I'd be interested in having a look!
Regarding clutches, Competition Clutch Stage 2 is fairly popular, and good value (it's what I've got), but is a little grabbier and lighter in feel than stock. Will be ok up to 400ish bhp though.
The more expensive but probably better (by most accounts) option is ACT pressure plate and OEM friction plate (or is it the other way round?!). Seems to be the only setup that is regularly reported to feel like stock and support SC power/torque.

Cheers Chris! If you help me get the bastard off the car, I'll reward you by also helping me take the box apart and taking a lookin inside... Haha
I'll have a look into the clutch info! What do you mean by "grabbier"? As in it's a more sudden biting point? A smaller margin between engaged and disengaged?

Yeh, if I've got time when you do it, I'll help. I've done mine, so would be easier 2nd time round. I did a DIY guide on this forum a while back. Worth finding it!
Yep, basically less pedal movement between disengaged and engaged. I've found it easy to do a gentle start, and easy to do a full bore start, but when you just want a 'quick ish' start, it's easy to bog down or slip it too much. You get used to it, but it needs a bit of thinking about. That said, it's nothing likeas bad as a puck clutch and is lovely and smooth. I'm happy with it. You're welcome to try mine, as long as you take care with the extra power!

Cheers Chris! I'll give you a heads up when i plan on doing it, would be great to have an extra hand if you're free.
I've already got your DIY bookmarked, it's the main port off call. Haha
That would be amazing. Just a quick up and down a nice road (3000rpm max, i promise! Haha) to see what it feels like? Let me know when you have some time for me to pop over!

So, been intensively looking into the gearbox disassembly etc, and have come to the conclusion that the bearings in a red box are definitely going to be changed, with the needle rollers in blue as maybe going to be changed, basically based on any advice I can round up!
My question is, does anyone have any info on these bearings, the internet seems barren when it comes to the subject! As always with bearings, I'd like to go straight to the bearing supplier, not Honda and pay 300/400% extra for a simple bearing from NSK or the like. So any part numbers would be much appreciated, even if it's just a Honda part number, as I can't even seem to find that info! Anyone on here done a box rebuild and have any "do's and don't's" on the topic?
