Default Genuinely scared...

Hi all,

Having wrecked my first car last September (MY01 S2K), i am understandably being over cautious and over zealous when driving my current one, especially on tricky surfaces (mine was written off under rainy conditions / greasy wet tarmac, i.e. first few rains after summer).
So, on to my current problem. Was driving back home 2 days ago (bone dry tarmac) and stopped at a roundabout due to traffic. As soon as i pull on to the roundabout (10 to 15 mph at the most, with minimum throttle input) and started turning into the corner, the rear just started to let go, i.e. the front was turning right on to the roundabout and the rear went left, just like that. I managed to hold on to it, but honestly think that was only due to the very low speed i was travelling.
The result is i am now terrified when cornering and have not touched the accelerator pedal again (whilst cornering, of course), fearing the past would come back to haunt me...
I checked tyre pressures, all fine. Have BC Coilovers, fully adjustable, front and rear. My car is due to go to Honda in about 2 weeks time to fit both set of front calipers (front right caliper is sticky) and was wondering if any of you S2K experts could shed any light upon this dark problem of mine. Any tests / questions / recommendations that i should pose to Honda (if any) would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

What tyres are on the car, and how much tread?

Have you had your geometry done?

Have you done any driver training in the S2000?

You're probably feeling extra sensitive when driving.. There is something simiar to active steering on the rear (but non mechanical) so you get the feeling that you're losing grip sometimes at slow speeds

What tires are you running anyway?

Get your alignment checked.
If it can step out that easily it sounds like your rear axle is toe out.

How much did you lower it?

Tyres are not the best tbh, Infinity INF-04 if i am not mistaken? They are brand new (previous owner had them fitted before selling to me so...).
Geometry done? Pardon my "noobness", i don't think so, no.
No driver training as such but had driven some S2K's before, from a couple of friends, also had another 1 before this one.

The previous owner fitted the BC Coilovers and lowered it, not sure how much but he did tell me that. Alignment might be the issue yes, thanks for the tip, should i do that at Honda?
Should i also do the Geometry at the dealers?

I feel like a complete noob!!!

Sounds like a mess up Geometry setup to me or just really crap tyres!

Or might be you not driving fast enough to have enough downforce for the corner

I'd suggest getting the proper Bridgestone Potenza RE050A MZ tyres.
Get your suspension geometry aligned by someone that knows what they are doing with S2000s. There are several places that specialise in S2000s that you can find by searching on here.

And I'm not meaning to scare you here, but when I got my S2000 I thought I could drive. I've owned or had open access to allot of high power RWD cars including 3 years of 911 ownership. But the land I got about how sensitive to both driver inputs and suspension/ tyre set ups this car is incredible. I've since found out that if you listen to what it tells you, you'll find being 1 psi down on one tyre noticeable.

There you go - two things that will wreck the grip and stability!
Don't go to the dealer for the geo.
Take a print out from the FAQ to any decent 4 wheel alignment centre and get some decent tyres on there, make sure the pressures are correct as well.
Go from there.
