Trouble now is... should I have borders? Has anyone seen a plate with borders?
Should I have 3D letters or plain ones?
Plus - as to legality, only plates made after 1st September are subject to the new regs - so, how does a cop know when your plate was made? Surely, on a pre Sept 2001 reg. it's gonna be pretty much OK?

The stupid thing is that, in the event of my witnessing a crime, like most people, I could far more easily remember a reg that spelled a word or name like "ABUSE" rather than remembering a series of letters and numbers! It wouldn't then take too much effort from Plod to think "Ah, that's probably ABU 5 E, let's check it out"
In short, I don't know why the law was introduced in the first place!

Borders on plates and all that jazz are pretty much personal preference. I had my plates made up with Euro bits and a black border and initially regretted it as being too fussy. Now they're on the car I love them
I did try to keep the plates as close to legit as possible (standard font, Euro flag, plain background etc.) to minimise the chance of being pulled over. I also got a completely legit set done with makers name and everything in case I get a slap on the wrist and told to swop them.

Latest news:
A local person has done me two S2000 PE plates, Euro symbol, plain font, no border at a great price with no maker's name on.
So, if anyone asks, I shall say got them from Rochdale !!

It's done. PWE 896 plates have been stored in the garage this morning and I'm now driving around with S2000 PE on the car (thanks to Dog Biscuit who spotted the plate on the DVLA site)
Now hoping the weather is fine Sunday so I can fit the headrests (which are very, very nice, by the way!)
