I found it easier to send mine to Spooner Restorations - find him on facebook.

Several here have used him and seem to be more than happy with his work

What did you use to get the old paint off? Did you cover the holes etc?
Did you replace the gasket? only ever taken the rocker cover off on my old escort when I was 18 and had to replace the gasket, as half of it came off with the cover (which was why I was taking it off in the first place!)

I also need to do my headlamps, but I'm going to have to try and respray the inside of one of mine due to water damage (long old story!). I'm going to try the less aggressive approach first and try the Meguirs 1 Step.
Yeah mate, made sure no flaky paint got inside the head when removing the cover. Bunged all the holes up with some decent tissue and had no issues when painting it.

Just be careful with the rubber grommets make sure they are nicely covered.

I changed the gasket on mine but the old one was absolutely fine, and I would have been more than happy re-using it, no noticeable degradation on any of the grommets or gasket.

I used paint stripper, a wire brush, a 2 pence piece, and a dremel to clean it up. Took a long time & effort, the areas that weren't flaking were really tough which is why I highly recommended getting it blasted, it would help for all the nooks and crannies too.

In an ideal situation I would buy a 2nd hand cover, get it professionally powder coated, install it then either get the old one blasted and sell it cleaned to someone or just sell it dirty.

I am going to try the One-Step too, just need to get my hands on a battery drill, or a friends drive way...

Hope that helped a wee bit

Earl

Need better pictures of the retainers mate, a bit lower camera angle so we can see the tops of the valves. Only the inlet side ones need checking really as they are the ones that tend to go due to the valve being larger and therefore heavier. I have done this swap myself https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/109...#entry23241645 and it made me fell happier that my engine is as solid as it ever can be.
