If you notice, the S2K actually posts the second quickest lap time after the M3. And it was easily holding the M3 at bay until the S2000 driver understeered into the first turn midway through the race.

So boll0cks to no torque/it can't keep up nonsense. I'm sick of motoring journalists saying this about the S; to every car on that vid, it is giving away at least 700cc but it's quicker than most of them and as fast as the vastly-more powerful M3. If the gearing and handling are right, you can make an S go very fast indeed.

Rant over...

On a separate note, one of the latest Hot Version Japanese DVDs shows a battle between a 2001 S2000 and a 2004 S2000, in the hands of the same JGTC racing driver. And he is comfortably quicker in the MY04. Let the S2000 Civil War recommence!

Whether I open that in Firefox or IE, it just takes me to the video.google.com front page ...

I can't see the video either if I search for it. What's the clip actually called?

quality. the skyline looks like a bloody tank, i bet it absolutely kills tyres. The M3 looks uncomfortable in the corners too but fastest in a straight line as you'd expect. The Z had the edge all the way I thought as an overall run but the S and the Boxster were the best handling cars.. pity the Boxy has a rubbish engine

He screwed that corner up big time

Yeh, I could never understand the no torque stuff. They make it sound like unless these carsa are revving at 9K, it goes no where. In fact, it seems the "cool" thing to do/say when u are an auto jounalist is that a car has no torque. Top Gear said the new Porche Cayman, with 258 ib/ft of torque, ahs not torque. Go figure

Great vid!

The handling system on the GTR is pretty awesome, you can see it working. Funny when he just decides to take the lead. The turn in on it is like a car width tighter than the others!
