Unhappy Hard to put it in 1 - 2 gear

Hi,

On my wifes S2000, its difficult to put the car into 1st and 2nd gear.

I had my local garage replace the gear and diff oils with the appropriate Motul oils and its just as bad if not worse.

Any ideas what it could be ?? New gear box time ???

Car has done 96k and is a 2001 model

You mean it's difficult to actually put it into FIRST from neutral OR just that it's difficult to put it FROM FIRST TO SECOND??

Both First and Second from Neutral and also very difficult to move from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st.

All other gears feel ok but a little notchy

Rob,
I probably ain't qualified to respond further, but your issues DO sound a little more than merely idiosynchratic for the car in general. Hopefully others more qualified than I to comment will step in, but it doesn't sound too promising to me on the face of it.

Does this happen only when cold, or also when the car is warmed up?

Could be the clutch dragging a little meaning things are turning when they shouldn't be. Cheap options first if I were you. Change clutch fluid etc and retry.
