Hardrace or OEM
 

Hello guys I'm giving my steering rack a sprooce up (paint) and looking to replace the old seized rusty tierods/ends but not sure if I should go hardrace or stick to oem ? The car will be summer only driven (not a daily) and lowered but usable height.


Anyone using/ had used the hardrace steering rack tie-rod? Does it come painted like in the pictures? Also does the quality match OEM?

what about the hardrace tie-rod ends? Any downsides? I like the rc adjustable ones but are there downsides to these?


Any advice much appreciated :)

Looked into this a week or so ago as I needed to replace mine. The consensus seemed to be that pattern parts or even eBay specials are fine.

I bought Quinton Hazel as they’re a recognisable name.

Cheers for the replays guys.Hmmm I haven't heard of this brand to be honest, I have hardrace parts on the car already and they seem like good quality so maybe I should stick with them?

I've just bought a set of Hardrace rods & ends as I wanted something more OEM but the Honda cost was a bit eye watering so thought I'd go uprated. I'm yet to fit them but having inspected them from the box the quality looks great. Paint finish is very good and the parts fit together well. They also come with all the required hardware which all appear to be good quality. If interested I can post up some pictures of the actual parts later.

Hi Andy, a picture would be awesome thank you, I see hardrace have 3 rod end options but the more adjustable one appeals to me most and
as far as the tie-rod goes I hope they are painted which will save me doing it :)

Just a thought regarding the adjustable one - I believe these are the open ended rose jointed ones? Not always the best idea for a road car. You'll need to inspect and perform maintenance because they can end up wearing quite fast when open to the elements.

I bought the uprated OEM style ones as I don't need the bump steer correction at the hub end since I'm raising the steering rack. I'll get some photos this eve and stick them up later.

Some pics of the Hardrace OEM style replacements then. All looks nice and beefy to me, I'm happy with them.

Thank you for the pictures Andy, like you say they look beefy and up to the job, plus the tie-rod/rod-end come painted unlike OEM so should help keep the rust at bay
