Have you connected the black/silver and black/yellow wires togther? The hardtop has a three pin connection which does it at source, the softtop has a two pin connection so needs the extra ground.
TBH it could be working ... I tried the demister in the wife's car, and this didn't get hot to the touch - so I'm waiting for the right weather to test it really.
The fact that I've measured 14V on, 0V off on the switch is reassuring. If this doesn't work, I'll try joining the black, & black/yellow as you've recommended.
The separate black/yellow which I'm refering to can be seen in the left of the pic.
EDIT: looking at the colour coding on this pic - the implication is that the black/yellow & black are linked to the black/silver on the other connector.

I have been trying to find pictures of the new style demisterr connector 04+ models
I have an 02 and fitted the new style center console but as the connectors are different so is the wiring. My 02 switch has 6 wires and the new switch only has 5 wires.
The new style switch has symbols for heated screen and mirrors so Im thinking of sourcing a switch with only a heated screen symbol incase they have different wiring????
I have posted a couple of new threads on this but ideally I could do with an 04+ owner to pop off there centre console and take a couple of close up pictures of the connector/wiring???
It should only take around 10 mins to do
Anybody willing to help?

Before I start chasing wires, has anyone been able to confirm that each wire should be connected to it's corresponding counterpart on the other loom, and that the additional black/yellow should be connected to ground?
Should I ignore the other wire, which I think is the softop disable???
Jimmy - Any joy with the facelift centre console switch?
