Default hardtop question

Hello been looking to get a hardtop. And I see that the brackets are usually sold without the brushes. Unless I purchase the kit from hardtop guy which comes.with the brushes. Do I actually need them or can I just use the brackets. Thanks

You can either cut your own brushes to make space for the pins or remove them when you put the top on and put them back in spring when you take it off
