Default headlight cleaner

I have what looks like a build up of scum on the plastic of the headlights. It looks a bit like condensation on the inside and, though I originally thought I had been a little too vigorous cleaning the car, I can pick it off with my nail if careful so think it has built up from cleaning.

What cleaner will remove this layer yet not damage the plastic surface. Will Meguiar's plastix do the job?

I have read threads where successively finer W&D paper was used but this sounds a bit too scary to risk.

I use the T-Cut scratch remover and a Porter Cable.

5 mins per light and you'll be bright again

I used the bmw plastic screen cleaner. It hasn't 100% sorted it but it definately helped.

I used Natty's Paste Wax on mine this weekend...it works a treat, and removed 95% of the haze
