Has anyone tried polishing out scratches out of headlights, seen a few products but just wondering if anyone can recommend one

Thanks. Dan

I have tried plexus and the honda cleaner used for motorbike screens.. works to some extent on very small scratches, and makes the plastic look a bit nicer, but deep scratches don't really change after treatment..

however if anybody has a wonder treatment I would want to give it a try as my headlights are a bit rough

The only thing I've ever used on either plastic screens/windows and plastic headlights is PlastX by meguiars. Again, I don't think it would do a lot for deep scratches. I'd think you'd need to get them professionaly polished out if your not going to replace.

Ok thanks. I'm thinking of trying something called peek. It's a metal polish but it's apparently good for plastic headlights and was going to use my dermal with a polishing bit. Unless anyone can think of a reason why the dremel should be a no go?

Wet sanding is the way forward, plenty of threads on detailingworld about it but you really need a machine polisher to get them back to nice again.

Ok thanks. Iv got a das-6 polisher so I'm gonna see if I can find one of the threads and see how difficult it would be.

Took me an hour to do two Yaris headlights - went from faded blurred yellow to crystal clear.

What grade papers did you use? And did you find it difficult?

1000 / 1500 - then used a mild cut polish to bring it back up. Really worth reading the guides over on detailingworkd .... i always follow them. Yaris wasnt deep scratches, just an overall yellowing / cracking on the surface of both lenses.
