Headunit / Phone connectivity options
I'm looking to replace my headunit soon and I'm want to know what options I have for connecting my phone to play music.
I currently have an Alpine headunit, which has some witchcraft behind it to enable the use of the dash controls which I'd like to keep, and an Android phone.
I guess I would need to stay with Alpine for the dash controls, but does anyone know what options I have to connect the phone, either by a lead or wirelessly by bluetooth or similar and whether I would be have to control the music from the phone or from the headunit?

Most Alpine headunits will allow you to use the CD changer input with an appropriate lead that'll let you use the phone as an aux in. Have a read of the manual and it'll tell you which one you need.
Bluetooth boxes are available from Alpine but they aren't much use apparently. Newer HUs have Bluetooth built in which does work quite well.
It'll all be in the manual either way.
If you do decide to get a new headunit, then getting an Alpine will mean you can re-use your dash control box, then it's just a matter of whether you choose one with an aux-in and/or bluetooth.
The Alpine website will give you a good comparison, or have a look at the likes of caraudiodirect.
