Default Hello from me and my car (VIN 000740 - 1999 UK launch car)

VIN and engine number
VIN and engine number

First post here after a long time reading.
Hi, I’m Tom from South Wales, UK.

I’m looking for some help please, I am trying to put an as detailed as possible provenance pack together for my car (only for my own interest) and hope someone here can help.

I own a 1999 UK AP1 with VIN JHMAP1130YT000740 and engine number 1000465. Reg is V191 JKL, first registered September 1999 - launch month in the UK. Ascari Red, black interior, around 60,000 miles, currently SORN in my garage.

The ownership history is straightforward. My uncle ordered it new in 1999, first allocation, collected it in September. I bought it from him directly in 2013. Two owners (3 on paper, my father for a few years but I always owned the car), it’s only even been owned by 1 family.

Condition is entirely original. Original plastic rear window - perfect, no crazing. Original 16-inch wheels. No modifications.

The only thing different from the original spec is the tyres - Yokohama Advan Neovas rather than Bridgestones.

The Honda UK first-allocation launch pack is still with the car - Lamy pen, hardback brochure, promotional CD, all three original keys.

The reason I’m posting is the VIN. 000740 and engine number 1000465 - does anyone know of a car with a lower VIN or engine number (owned by a private individual)?

I’m really interested to see how many of these original cars still exist and what condition they’re in! Maybe mine is the lowest out there?

I’m going to write to Honda to see if they have any more information about the car. Will post their response here when/if it comes.

Photos below - VIN plate, engine number, DVLA confirmation, current condition.

Hope someone can help.

Cheers Tom

Now you've done it! We're gonna want to see under hood/bonnet photos as well as what the suspension looks like! The shine on the red body paint nearly seared my retinas!

Hmm, are the VINS unique per country, or all the same from Japan?

Mine is an import but also a '99, mine ends in 159. (Engine ends in 201)

Thanks Chuck!
Pre-kids I had time to drive, clean (I’d happily spend hours polishing and waxing it) and really enjoy it, since having kids it’s been in the garage gathering dust - I’ll grab some photos when I’m out there next but it’s not such a pretty sight now!

It's a copy. Tbh you may as well, the only issue then is the gasket.

Mine is battered from being too low

Both cars in the background are long gone alas. I miss that blue one.

I think they may run in order regardless of where the car was originally sold, hoping someone out there knows… Either way, yours has got to be one of the first ever with mine following maybe weeks after.

Can I see a pic of it? Ta
