Default Help with bonnet catch

Hi All,

My bonnet catch has been acting up recently, either jamming shut or not closing properly so the bonnet isn't secured and at speed it wobbles around

I've bought a new catch from another S but while removing the rusted up old one, I found this little green thing with wires attached to the bonnet catch:

Does anyone know what this does? I'm not certain how it attaches to the new bonnet catch, (it might be slightly different) so wanted to know if it was essential or not.

Thanks in advance!

I had this issue, lubing the cable helped. After I'd done it I discovered this tool http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCLE...item35ef48c047 that allows you to squirt white lithium spray or similar into the cable shroud.

I usually drown the lock with WD40 to wash all the dried grease/grit out of it, clean it with paper towel and then re-apply lithium grease to stop the voices.

Never replaced one yet.

With all that rust and crud I'd replace the hood latch and cover. Less than US$35 for new factory parts. Convert to pounds and rename "bonnet" latch. By the time you remove, clean and paint it you'll have more than that in labor (or labour) and it's still an old part.

The wires connect to a micro switch inside the catch.
This is for the bonnet pin switch on the later (facelift) Honda alarms
