OK. this gets weird. Drove it to work this morning - 24 miles. ticking sound when I parked it.
Drove the 24 miles home. running sweetly again.
Had it on idle for 15 minutes and still OK.
am I being paranoid ?
does this sound like TCT behaviour. ?
not really an easy decision if I'm about to drive it to Germany

Ive been sourcing a sound on mine for last two weeks and had the TCT out so many times now, my advice is to get it out and give it a good sanding, if it is that you should 99% hear the difference.
2 bolts to come off, crack the inner 2 beforehand and carefully take it out.
If its not that i'm not sure i'd do 2000 miles in it.

2 days before travel the engine started rattling, after seeking advice from here and Honda decided not to risk taking it so had to do the trip in the old diesel smoker. It could well be a TCT rattle but didn't want to take the chance. Absolutely gutted as roads were superb. I suspect the next time it goes to France all diesels will be banned from everywhere.
Upside was that the wife was able to take her full wardrobe, the kitchen sink, fridge and garden shed ;-) and we werent fazed by the zero visibility rain storm on the French autoroute. and of course the amount of booze that came back with us was exponentially more than the S would have carried for us,. Thanks to our travelling companions for not letting it ruin our holiday, especially as we'd had all the hotels booked in advance. You know who your friends are in these situations kept up with them on the autobhan but hairpins in the Tyroll were another matter !
decided Switzerland was ridiculously expensive and learned that if you do take a day trip into the German side of Konstanz it's a good idea to take your passports with you :-(
...and chitty chitty bang bang castle at Neuweinstein is well worth the extra miles down into Bavaria. Just make sure you get there early.
Have someone coming to look over the S next week and hopefully I can make up for it with another Euro trip before the end of the year.
Guess at 127,000 miles I need to start expecting it to throw its toys out the pram from time to time.....

Andy,
When I had the TCT rattle a blip of the throttle would normally solve it. Whether that's a good idea or not it might be an easy check for you.
Gutted for you that you had to take the CRV. If I had to take the CRV to Spain last month I think I would of cancelled - or gone out and purchased another S.

It did cross my mind. We had fun anyway.
If you lived a little closer I'd have come and nicked yours for the week. Lol
Took it down the road yesterday evening and definitely wouldn't have wanted to do 2000 miles with that rattle.
That's life I guess :-(
