Default Help.... HID headlight bulb wire retaining clip putting new bulb in.

Any help or guidance appreciated please. Disconnected battery, pulled all relays, fuses, wore gloves, took wheel and arch liner off etc. have removed my blown HID bulb (passenger side) ok. BUT I just can't seem to get the new bulb (fits into its holder ok) placed back into headlight with the wire bulb holder. The wires just don't want to easily VIP in and the bulb stay straight and firm.
I have tried for about an hour last 2 evenings..... advice please!!
Paul.

Have you still got the old bulb? Are they the same?

Yes the bulbs are the same.
Just if anyone has done this before if they could advise the trick to reseating the bulb in the headlight with the wire retaining clips.

I had exactly the same problem - the only way I found to install the lamps correctly, was to remove the bumper and headlight assembly - easy as pie after this. I still don't know to this day why I struggled so much with the headlight in place - perhaps my snorker paws had something to do with it...

Update - bulb clipped in on the first try tonight after refusing too last 2 night! Wonderful, except the bulb appears now to have not been the problem although the old bulb that I removed looked blown. Was all clouded black in the centre. Immediately upon switching on the lights the fuse blows in the fuse box. It did this with the old bulb too, I assumed as it was blown perhaps, but not so.
Any ideas now? Can ballast problem cause the fuse to keep blowing?
All advise appreciated. I don't want to put the liner and wheel back on until sorted and I have already mussed the best 3 days weather of the year, typical!

Switch the ballast over to eliminate it out of the equation, I'd expect it is at fault though.
