Help With Noise Diagnosis
I would appreciate any pointers on tracking down an annoying noise which I have noticed. Details are as follows:
1. Noise is a droning noise from the rear of the car.
2. Noise only really becomes audible at around 75 mph.
3. As speed increases over 75 mph, pitch of noise increases.
4. Noise is more pronounced when throttle is open.
5. Noise is the same sound/pitch regardless of what gear I am in.
My previous S2000 did not have these symptoms so I would like to know if it's anything to worry about, and if poss what components (prop shaft, drive shaft, CV joints, diff etc) are likely to blamd so I can get it fixed.
TIA,
Dave.

Sounds like many aftermarket exhausts to me
Seriously though...check yours out...I've not heard of an OEM exhaust going kaput, but you never know.
I'd have a search for 'wheel bearing noise'...there's a good video on the forum which may help you out.
A 'drone' isn't very descriptive either...even though that's what it sounds like to you; I wouldn't expect to be told exactly what it is.

I've had a listen to the sounds on the wheel bearing thread and my noise is nothing like that scratching noise. At first I though it was just tyre noise, but I don't think it's that because the noise is more pronounced when I'm on the throttle?

OK the noise is starting to really annoy me now. Would it be best to take it to a Honda dealer and do a road test, or maybe find someone with a rolling road to test on?
