Default HID Q's and anyone got an old HID invertor?

Having problems with the headlight setup on my Import '99.
(other posts)

With some extremely helpful posts of forum members it sounds as if the headlights were re-wired for the SVA however they haven't been returned back to their original setup.
There's no HID bulbs in the car. Standard bulbs have been wired in with the effect that the beam goes about 6 inches so completely unusable at night.

The bulb connector on the ns unit is gone, the woven surround is there and the wires inside but no plug.
The connection is present on the os.

What's the best course of action here? Does anyone have an old / broken invertor that I could take the bulb plug off and use?

Should I buy a Honda invertor to replace the ones that's been cut?
OR
Should I buy a complete aftermarket HID setup inc. bulbs which is cheaper?

What's the best way of getting in to look at the setup in the arch? Is it a case of taking the bumber off or removing the plastic trim in the wheel arch (after removing the wheel?

Many thanks!

Rob

Hi Rob

Spend a day and remove the front bumper, so you can get a good look at the situation.

If the two HID units are there and the cable from the unit to the head light is buggered, then just get the cable from honda as the replacement, buy the bulbs aftermarket, and upgrade them(5000) at the same time as purchase.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply.

Is bumper removal the only good way of seeing what's going on?

Also do the cables unplug from the HID unit? I did see a diagram in the dealers yesterday but it seemed to be one unit. If they ubplug then that's great.

Cheers,

Rob

If you need a hand let me know. I've had the front bumper off mine to remove the headlamp when I had the misting up problem

Thanks for the replies.

I might call on some advice for removing the bumper.

Can anyone confirm that the D2S connection cable can be replaced?

Thanks,

Rob
