It's the first thing I do when buying one of these, as you don't really know what's it the belly. Honda even put 0w oil in one of my previous s2000s by mistake! That cost them a free change.
The car came with receipts for 5w-40 fuchs titan race pro. I’ve got 5w-40 Castrol edge coming today as it seems what the majority of people are using in England.

Yep definitely change it and go from there. Also, blast the current pcv from one end with brake cleaner/ carb cleaner. Get it rattling again. Can't remember which end to blast, apologies but it's on here somewhere

I’m using that too here in Scotland.

Chuck - not sure if you drive yours as hard these days, however....
Just saying if you're constantly topping up an once at a time and thinking you're burning quarts of oil may be false. Which is different from if it drops to or below the L mark. Don't cost nothing to simply keep track to when -- or IF -- the oil level ever drops to the L mark; you'll never know if you're constantly topping up.

The sky is not falling. Or is rarely.

I'm a bit more sympathetic to my car these days, after all, they are around 20 years old or older for some. Once the oil is swapped (I also religiously use 5w40 Edge), you'll get to learn the consumption once the ECU has worked out your right foot mix.
I'd drive it a little more conservatively for 300 miles, and check the oil before and after a full tank of fuel. It should not move hardly at all - with some variation to flat surface and oil at the same temperature on each measure.
Has it had it's valve clearances done yet, within it's history?

I can’t see that it’s had a valve clearance done in the past, however it’s had 9 or so stamps at Honda I would have liked to think they would have told the previous owners it needed to be done. I am hopefully planning to have it done over the Christmas period.

Changed the pcv valve, noticed that the valve was loose and not tightened into the rocker cover, may have been caused by me messing around with the pipe when trying to see if it worked, but i doubt it.

Mine also burns oil, about 0.7 Liters / 1000 KM. But i also use VTEC on every occasion on lonesome roads. ( Read: I dont care about speed limits and really drive it hard)
I have noticed that after a oil change the Oil consumption is still there, but really lowered and then gradually increases again.
I had a used Oil analyses done wich showed that the oil was sheared down to a xxW-30 from a xxW-40. This would explain it.
I only tried the method wich Chuck described one time, it didn´t work for me. I had to top off as the oil level was down to the last X on the Dipstick.
Use a 5w-40, top it off and change the oil reguallary. Exhaust tips are really black with soot on mine.

Blimey... Looks like anti seize on the thread, or copper slip. Neither is needed. Get it rattling like a snake, loads of cleaner blasted in.
I'd defo have the clearances done. I had mine done in May by some Honda Specialist near Wigan as I didn't have time. The engine sounded far too quiet afterwards, this for an 05 reg (I was chasing a slight misfire which turned out to be a counterfeit Denso Map sensor I had fitted prior - don't ask haha). Anyways, the pillock had overtightened all the 8 exhaust valves (13 of the 16 valves in fact were far too tight). So I went in and did it myself, easy enough. Now it clatters away as it should I jest, it has the sewing machine sound to it. They are all spot on now and fine for at least another couple of years or more.
If it's an 06, they are known to get pretty tight from that model year onwards from 40k miles. If you need a hand doing, no bother if you're nearby unless you're handy with the spanners
Definitely don't ignore them being done, it's critical like the oil

If it's not boosted, it's running too lean or rich if they are black. I'd start with the spark plugs, then move towards your clearances.
Cleaning the throttle body doesn't hurt either, or running a bit of Cataclean through the injectors in case the spray pattern is a bit frail. Some f20s run richer than others, depends on their previous owner life I guess if it's running fine.
