Have and of you chaps fitted an oil temp gauge?

I should add the only reason i opted for the AEM 3.5 bar map sensor was because the profile for that sensor is included with the AEM tuner software so it was a simple set up process. I have no way to accurately calibrate a different type of sensor and seeing as i was going to tune it myself it felt like getting something was was relatively plug and play made sense.

I have a SPA oil temp/pressure gauge fitted. Both connectors are fitted to the relocation filter plate. I'm not 100% convinced it's the best location for readings but it's easily accessible, which was one of my requirements.

I had sensors on my civic before and moved the oil temp from the sandwich plate by the oil filter to the sump. Gave a massive difference in readings, but guess as long as you know what the base line should be, just make sure there is not too much fluctuation.
As for pressure sensor, there is normally a stock sensor in the engine block. I bought a simple extension braided hose with T piece on so I could re-connect the OEM as well as the gauge sender unit.

There are quite a few people on here that know more about racing and could probably advise the best place to locate each sensor.

Pressure sensor in a sandwich plate off the filter, temperature sensor in the sump, via a weld-in boss.

what's the HKS dump valve like, is it worth swapping out, if so which would you go for?

Strictly speaking its not a dump valve its a bypass valve.

If you fit a vent to atmospheric valve it will hiss and make alot of noise at low throttle positions and it becomes very very annoying. I have a turbosmart dual port but i have bunged the atmospheric vent port and it just recirculates.

The way the HKS one works is by venting any boost pressure at low throttle inputs which means the vast majority of the time the supercharger is generating boost but its being released straight away which reduces drag on the charger. The only time it starts making boost is when you put your foot down and the vacuum in the inlet manifold reduces to a level that the bypass valves shuts causing positive pressure to be generated. I had to fit a different valve as i wanted water injection but i often think i would of been better off keeping the HKS item as its simple and non adjustable. You cant really go wrong.
