Guys, was looking over some of the cars @ Japfest.

One thing my friend pointed out was that is was a manual tensioner - is this a bad thing?!

Not really, you just adjust it as needed.

Pros and cons to manual tensioners. Obviously the ability to adjust to your desired tension is the main thing. However, There is nothing in the belt system that allows for rapid engine speed changes ( such as hitting the limiter ) so all that mechanical stress goes through the belt and other components. Auto tensioners take the abuse better, but you have the issue of space and potential belt slip.

I used one for the first map with my TTS kit. Basically, it means you lose a whole load of power in the midrange because you have to wind back the timing to keep EGT down, to avoid melting the front of the cat. Not recommended.

I assumed the fuel smell in mine came from the injectors. Never had a fuel smell when decatted before charging.

The fuel smell from mine is horrific. I stink of fuel when starting the car up in the garage. Even with an extractor on and the door open the whole places stinks.

The thing is as well that its not running rich for long,15 seconds after start ive set O2 feedback to come on and lean things out. I'm hoping a change of injectors might make it better.

I even went to the extent of checking the charcoal canister to make sure it wasn't saturated with fuel but it was bone dry. Seems more noticeable after the EGR/air pump delete

I found a yank place who make race cats. They have rules for rallying and stuff over there.

think after i've tracked it i'll put the stock cat on for road and live with power loss
