Any of you guys got your boost pipes powder coated? Im considering powder coating the charger mounting plate and boost pipes while everything is off the car, Will the extra thickness of the paint on the mounting plate throw off the belt?

New charger and bits and bobs arrived today, massive thanks to Simon, Hks Europe and Hendy for sorting it out!

Just out of curiosity, how many miles do the rest of you guys have so far since going supercharged? And how long?

July 2016 I think. 3000 miles or so. 4 track days and one hillclimb day. No problems other than BOV which I upgraded.

Hopefully some others will chime in with higher mileage, as going by the BRZ forum the chargers seem to last between 5-10k miles.

and that ties in with my charger failing, and my friends charger failing who did around 8k miles i believe.

I cant fault HKS in getting me a new unit as quick and painlessly as they did. But personally given the options out their i would not go HKS SC again.

I am pretty worried about the design of the charger itself, and the fault rate on the BRZ cars due to the design, and the fact that no one seems to have put any real miles on these chargers yet on the S2000 side. And the only person i know who did also suffered a dead charger in less than <10k miles due to the threads stripping inside due to the poor design.

I was hoping others would comment on this thread saying they had successfully put 20k+ miles on the charger to put my mind at ease, and until that happens it is a big worry IMO

A lot of people drive S2000 less and less these days so I think its not easy to find one with HKS fitted and use it over 20K+ miles. I only drive 2000 miles this years

What did HKS say about the fault? Sending you a new one is great customer service but the issue hasn't been fixed. How could we know for sure it's not gonna happen again on the new kit?

I’d be interested in knowing what HKS thought was the root cause of the failure too. But half the problem with a failure is that there can be many causes and stresses that impact it, unless it’s flawed by design, as you are suggesting.

Although my miles are limited, they have nearly all been completed on track (mostly Combe) so I would have thought a manifested design flaw would have presented itself by now. If your mileage predictions are correct, I should find out in 2018...
