All aftermarket fuel pumps are noisy - I wouldn't worry about it - I could hear mine as soon as I put key in IIRC!

yea it seems to be a little 50/50 with walbro and noise, i could always hear the pump during prime when i turn the key, and that still sounds exactly the same, but now i can hear it during normal driving too, i wouldn't say it sounds like a "bad" noise as such, its just a little annoying lol

Mine did initially but it seems to have quietened down. Either that or I've got used to it. It sounded like a jet warming up for the first 1000 miles.

Fuel level will have an effect on the noise from the pump because being submerged helps quieten it down abit.

Mine has always made the same noise since installing it. I did take my time making sure that the walbro pump and hanger matched the exact height of my spare oem pump and hanger and that the sock ended up in the correct position.

Is there a way of finding out the firmware installed on the EMS v2 without plugging it into the car and hooking up laptop?

It's brand new from factory, annoying it doesnt state or i cant see a note stating shipped firmware

You could probably get away with just providing power to the appropriate pins, then plugging in the laptop. Don't know anyone who has tried though.

It'll probably throw a wobbly because sensors etc aren't connected, but it might be a bit enough to allow you to update the firmware. All speculative though.
