Honda alarm system playing up.
I've had an intermittent problem with some relay clicking like mad for a couple of months.
Symptoms were, I'd unlock car key in ignition turn on and click click click nothing, push the start button engine would turn over but not fire.
So I'd usually turn off and back on again and it would be ok.
Sometimes I wouldn't have a problem with it for weeks, but yesterday it played up BIG time. Stopped in a layby for a piss and puff on my way to santapod, hour later still fiddling with wires to see if they were loose, pushing/checking fuses, general oh bollox not got a clue so I'll fiddle with anything to see if it will work.
Finally it decided to start so bugger pod lets head home. Parked in the drive and it hasn't started since. (first night its spent outside for years)
Had a hunt around on the internet yesterday and it could be the PGM-FI relay playing up.
It says check for continuity between some terminals, what's that mean? put multi meter on them to see if there is voltage?
I hate electrical problems.

Ahah it's alive, seems like it is the Honda alarm, rattled the wires about at the main unit in its hidden location and the PGM relay came alive.
So now I know the problem do I pull it and get a better aftermarket alarm or have the honda one repaired.

Yeah I think aftermarket will be the best route, I guess they would pull the old alarm system before fitting the new, would pull it myself but there are loads and loads of wires going all places.
I got to about 10 miles of Pod, would have loved to have had a run or two as car is pulling real nice now the weather is cooling down.
to the couple of people who asked if we were alright and needed any help, and the granny who could only offer us some water. Bless

I had a similar problem with my alarm on my 02 civic type r.
What you need to do to get it working again is disconnect the battery under the bonnet for a minute then re-connect. Try this. It should crank over again, and once it does get it into Honda to replace the immobilser which sounds knackered and is interfering with the engine etc as it was with my old civic.

Yeah its the same as mattyboyz problem, motor spins over fine just doesn't fire, that's why I thought it might have been the PGM-FI relay (which is a bugger to get to).
I'm thinking as its after fitted I should be able to strip it out myself if I follow all the wires back, cant be that hard could it?

Had a similar problem with mine a few months back. Ignition came on, turned over but no start. Eventually got AA out and after an hour or so of checking stuff we decided it was the alarm.
The AA bloke was great and didn't give in, he said something like the immobiliser disables the ecu and fuel pump and so after bypassing the part that disabled the fuel pump the car started fine. Alarm and immobiliser still works and haven't had a problem since...
Aftermarket one as soon as i can afford it!
