You're right about the Alpine warranty, Peters car will be fixed without problems I'm sure and Alpine do great headunits, he went mini disc with CD changer in boot .

As I understand it Pinky's mod uses a 'learning' infrared unit so doesn't involve changes to the head unit, it should work with any remote controlable headunit. (thats the theory ). It adapts the ISO cable you need to connect from the car wiring loom to the headunit so shouldn't affect warranty.
