Honda used 5W-30 oil
#14
Absolutely not too thin since it's a multi-grade oil. 10 or 10W is actually too thick for any engine on startup where most wear occurs.
Think of multi-grade oils as Startup (the W-part) and Operating. 0W-20 is too thin in the operating range.
Start here while you drink your morning coffee. It's no more than a 10 minute read.
Executive Summary: The engine oil should ideally maintain a thickness of 10cSt for proper lubrication. 10W-30 is 100cSt at 75°F, much thicker than the ideal 10cSt; 0W-30 is 40cSt at startup -- still too thick for normal operation but it thins as it warms. Both 10W-30 and 0W-30 are 10cSt at operating temperature (as is any "30" at operating temperature).
It's really that simple.
